Urinary tract infection or constipation

Blogged under General Health by Linda Lithony on Thursday 24 April 2008 at 1:03 pm

It cannot be emphasized enough- bed wetting is an unfortunate set of circumstances that often starts for no obvious reason but also ends all of the sudden with little if any outside intervention needed. Research studies have shown that in any given year approximately fifteen out of one hundred children just stop wetting their beds without the need for treatment or even a visit to the doctor. However in most cases it probably is a good idea to talk openly and honestly with your parents about this problem and then to go see your doctor just so he can help put your mind at ease and also rule out any physical problems such as a urinary tract infection or constipation. Atkins, water and constipation

Blogged under General Health by Linda Lithony on Wednesday 23 April 2008 at 1:33 pm

Finally, make sure you are drinking enough water each day. Water has a myriad of benefits for every human being, not just those on the Atkins diet. Thirst can sometimes be masked as hunger, so staying well hydrated will keep you from craving foods you shouldn’t be eating. Water also helps you avoid constipation, which is an occasional side effect of the Atkins diet. Drinking 8 eight ounce glasses of water per day will also help you flush out the toxins from your system that are produced when you burn fat. These common mistakes can make people frustrated with the Atkins diet when there is no need to be. If you are just starting out on the diet, make sure to prepare yourself for these mistakes. If you’ve been on the diet for some time, evaluate your eating habits and make sure you are following the program correctly. Atkins diet plan

Medications prescribed for ADHD and bedwetting

Blogged under General Health by Linda Lithony on Sunday 20 April 2008 at 1:48 pm

When it comes to treating both disorders, enuresis and ADHD, there are both behavioral techniques as well as medical treatments. It may be necessary to prioritize which symptoms of which disorder are the most serious and need to be addressed first. It is also important to think of back up treatment plans if the first one you undertake does not work. This is often the case in many situations. Be aware that some medications prescribed for ADHD can make enuresis worse. Desmopressin acetate (DDAVP) has been known to improve bed wetting in some bed wetting children and teenagers while Tricyclic depressants (such as Tofranil) work better for others. Wetting Bed

Enuresis is more common in children who suffer from ADHD

Blogged under General Health by Linda Lithony on Thursday 17 April 2008 at 5:47 am

Enuresis is more common in children who suffer from ADHD than it is in the general population. While most of these children note that the incidence of bed wetting has decreased dramatically or halted all together by the time they are seventeen or eighteen years old, many still suffer from problems of impulsivity, inattention and a problem with organizational skills well into their adult lives. Children who suffer from ADHD and also enuresis generally have a more difficult time adjusting and coping with both problems then do children who just experience enuresis. This often goes for then parents who care for them as well. Wetting Bed

High blood pressure causes the heart to work harder

Blogged under General Health by Linda Lithony on Thursday 17 April 2008 at 5:45 am

High blood pressure causes the heart to work harder as it pumps blood around the body, this increases the risk of heart disease. High cholesterol – Those who suffer with high cholesterol hold a great risk of heart disease as cholesterol in high amounts can block the flow of blood carrying oxygen to the heart. Because the risks are high, especially in those over 65 years in age, it is important to try and look after oneself to reduce the risks that can cause heart disease. By looking at the risk factors we can control, there is a clear evidence that we can physically reduce our risks quite dramatically just by eating healthily, becoming more active and trying to stop smoking. Diet and cheese

Blogged under General Health by Linda Lithony on Monday 14 April 2008 at 5:36 am

Watch your daily intake of cheese. Although cheese is on the acceptable foods list, it does have small amount of carbohydrates. Your best bet is to limit your cheese intake to 4 oz per day. You can have more on special occasions, but it should not be used as your mainstay for protein. Meats, eggs and tofu are much better choices and don’t contain carbohydrate grams.
