Chlamydia being a sexually transmitted disease inflicts about three million Americans each year. Caused by the bacteria called Chlamydia trachomatis, generally, people infected with the bacteria do not know that they are infected at all; having no symptoms all through its early stage, this disease causes serious damage to the reproductive system when left untreated, thus is referred to as the ’silent disease.’ chlamydia trachomatis
